Week 3 Dallas-area high school football rankings: New No. 1 in 5A; shuffling at top in 6A.
The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is a gold mine for high school football. Programs like Allen, Southlake Carroll, DeSoto, Cedar Hill, and Euless Trinity are all encompassed by this vast region that produces some of the best football in the state.
You have to be mindful though when discussing the metroplex to natives of the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth. Both will be quick to point the fact out that Dallas and Fort Worth are two separate cities with their own identities and cultures. The two cities have maintained a friendly rivalry throughout the years with the city of Arlington almost acting as a dividing line between the two cities. To keep in the spirit of this friendly city rivalry here is a look at some of the best football programs from the two cities this year.
The only qualification for this list is that the school must be located within the actual city of Dallas or Fort Worth. So sorry to programs such as Cedar Hill, DeSoto, and Allen, this is one list that will be excluding you.
Skyline looks to put together another great season with the guidance of second-year coach Derick Roberson. Skyline boasted one of the best defenses last season, but will only have three returning starters from that defense which includes Jalon Spencer who racked up 80 tackles on his way to an all-district selection.
Jesuit is a familiar face in the playoffs and this year looks to be no different. The Rangers return five starters on both offense and defense from a team that went and had an area playoff appearance. Fresh off a district title, senior quarterback Jacob Palish will be leading this offense after throwing for 1, yards and 24 scores. His offensive line boasts two all-district linemen and on defense, Jesuit is led by all-district selections Jack Metz, Jordan Rice, and Lucas Kincaid.
Both Jesuit and Skyline play in the same district and those two will be duking it out with newcomer Coppell in District A. Bishop Dunne has seen outstanding growth for its program in recent years. The TAPPS DI program won its first title in over twenty years back in and made a second straight appearance in the state final last year.
The Falcons have their eyes on another title with the reins of the offense being held by junior quarterback Stacy Connor. The South Hills Scorpions return with what appears to be their best team to date. Headlined by brothers Tracin and Tylan Wallace, the Scorpions hope to continue their upward trend.
